The reversal from earlier reports is sweet but probably a huge lie. The politicians ruling Malaysian say they don't censor the Internet but the people know they do because of the inability to access certain websites in the country. Thus proving the ministers are liars and cannot be trusted. Now they say they have changed their mind on tighten the censorship they say they are not doing by reporting to the people they are canceling a controversial order for Internet filters. Yet the people know they say one thing and do the complete opposite.

This blog has a Facebook page or two. They can block Facebook but would be awesomely stupid if they do. What about other outlets like Twitter? Unless the inbred politicians with inherited public offices that play minters on TV plan to isolate Malaysia from the Western world there will be no stopping their eventual down fall. Govt cancels Net filter plan (Update)

PUTRAJAYA: The Government has cancelled its controversial plan to install filters at the country’s Internet gateways after a public hue and cry.

Malaysia will use existing laws to prevent Internet abuse instead of putting in place the special filter to limit web use, confirmed Information, Communications, Culture and Arts Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

He said there were sufficient laws to nab those responsible for “negative practices.”

“We will not filter the Internet but Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin (Tun Hussein), (Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department) Datuk Seri Nazri (Aziz) and I have been tasked to look for instances of sedition, fraud and child pornography.

“We will then provide the relevant law enforcement agencies with the necessary particulars for them to take action.

“This is what we will do. We have laws in this country, including those involving the Internet, and everyone must abide by them. Perpetrators will have to answer if they break the law,” he told reporters after the launch of the “Fly the Jalur Gemilang” campaign by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Wednesday.

Rais was commenting on a foreign wire report that Malaysia was to cancel the tender for an Internet filter system, saying he was not aware of the “existence” of the tender.

He stressed that the Government would not censor Internet use.

The Prime Minister had earlier said that the Government would not impose any censorship of the Internet as such a move would be ineffective and could cause dissatisfaction among the people.

Asked how immediate the crackdown on Internet abusers would be, Rais said, “You cannot imagine, maybe I can summarise by saying the task is ahead of us and we have to keep up.”

The minister said the National Security Council would also have to look at possible preventive measures with respect to negative practices on the Internet, but added that it would not involved “any sort of application.”

Last week, The Star Online and other news portals reported that the Government had called for a tender for the system that has been compared with China’s “Green Dam” project.

Quoting a source with “direct knowledge of the tender,” Reuters on Wednesday reported that the tender has been cancelled after the idea was blocked by the prime minister.

Rais had earlier denied the proposed system would censor the Internet, and said the proposed system was to block pornography from being accessed by Malaysian children.

Reuters said it has a copy of the tender documents for the system which would:

* Evaluate the readiness and feasibility of the implementation of the Internet filter at (the) Internet gateway level; and

* Study gateway filters in countries that had implemented such measures and “find out (their) suitability for the Malaysian environment”;

Internet users upset over Govt’s filter attempt

PETALING JAYA: Online and wire agency reports that the Government is mulling an Internet filtering system similar to China’s controversial “Green Dam” project has got the local online community in a huff, while technology experts questioned the viability of the project.

Online portals and wire agencies reported earlier Thursday that the Government has called for a tender for a system that could block “undesirable websites.”

Information, Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim, whose ministry issued the tender, also plans to secure direct control over the content and monitoring division of Malaysia’s Internet regulator, Reuters quoted a source as saying.

Rais himself said last month that he would introduce measures to “control the bad” elements on the Internet.

Neither Rais, nor any of the government bodies related to technology, were available for comment at press time.

China’s Green Dam project sought to install software filters on all computers sold in the country to block pornography and “other harmful content,” but has been put on the backburner because of technical issues and a rising tide of protest from civil society in and outside China.

The Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (Pikom) was disappointed with what it said was the Malaysian Government’s attempt to censor the Internet.

“It has gone against its word to ensure the medium remains open and uncensored,” Pikom chairman David Wong said.

The MSC Malaysia Bill of Guarantees specifies that the Internet will not be censored to ensure the success of the MSC Malaysia initiative, he noted.

“It will also be difficult to filter ‘harmful content,’ especially that found in blogs, on the Internet as it knows no boundaries,” he said.

Wong said Internet users did not share their thoughts only on blogs, but also through social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, as well as chatrooms and forums.

He said a better and more viable measure would be to educate the public on the consquences of spreading harmful or irresponsible content.

Technology advocate Dinesh Nair said the Government’s efforts might just be in vain.

“They can try to filter the Internet but it won’t work,” he said.

He also believed that if the main reason was to block “undesirable content,” the Government would be better off using the educational approach.

If the Government were to block one “harmful site,” another would just pop up in its place, he added.

Internet users, he said, view online censorship as damaging and will always find ways to circumvent any such barrier.

“It’s better to educate the rakyat (people) to be proactive and identify these sites and exercise good Internet surfing habits, rather than censoring the Internet,” he said.

Artist and new media advocate Muid Latif said Internet censorship would only contribute to the negative growth of the Malaysian information and communications technology sector, especially in the area of creative content.

“This ridiculous restriction will reflect badly on Malaysia and potential investors will think twice about making an investment here,” he said.

Many in the Government have blamed the vibrant and critical Internet culture for Barisan Nasional’s losses in the 12th General Election in March last year, and there has been pressure from some quarters to muzzle the medium.

The Government had previously considered registering bloggers, many of whom are critical of the ruling coalition.

Barney Frank Admits "Public Option" is a Trojan Horse to Single Payer Nationalize Health Care

I hate all politicians, it is usually not good to generalize about people but politicians all scheme to do things against the will of the people. From America to Malaysia no matter where the politicians are from they are all the same living scum. The video also proves that President Obama's statement made on June 15 and again on July 30th, that "nobody is talking about some government takeover of health-care," is a "big, fat whopper." I knew this from the start but it is nice to have video evidence exposing the big lie. The single-payer system of health care in the United States would essentially be a Federal government takeover of American health care. So, apparently the folks at a group called Single Payer Action are devoted to the idea of instituting a Canadian-style, single-payer system of health care in the United States. According to their website, they'll simply never compromise on the issue.

Little do they realize, however, they probably just did more to kill the President's healthcare scheme than any of us could have dreamed of.

See, to them a person like Barney Frank leans unacceptably to the right on how to handle a healthcare takeover. Barney wants a single payer system, of course, he just doesn't believe it's politically viable at the moment.

And that's the damaging truth he reveals in the short video below, that the "public option" Democrats are fighting so hard for is really a trojan horse.

Why can't politicians just be honest on single payer nationalize health care? Oh yeah thats right, the people are totally against it. President Barack Obama told the American people on June 15th:

What are not legitimate concerns are those being put forward claiming a public option is somehow a Trojan horse for a single-payer system. … So, when you hear the naysayers claim that I’m trying to bring about government-run health care, know this - they are not telling the truth.

So, who is telling the truth? Frank or Obama? Someone is not being honest with the American people. Although I hate to say it but I think Barney Frank is the honest one here.

Remember what single payer medicine means: government is, by definition, the single and only entity that pays for medical care. All physicians, hospitals and providers of medical care would essentially work for the government, and be accountable to government. All patients would have to use the government system of health care. Most people call this nationalize health care. If you want a certain type of medical care, just hope it's in the interest of the bureaucrat who has the power to make that decision. Because it will not be your decision. If you think fighting with an insurance company for a certain type of medical care is fun and enjoyable, you are going to love fighting with the Federal Government of the United States.

So American Idol 8's top 12 has an apparently once openly gay member but he is back in the closet and although he has yet to reference his sexual orientation on the show, everyone seems to be skirting around it by referring to him as “flamboyant,” as if this was the 1950s. During Friday’s conference call with reporters, most of the questions for Adam were about his clothes and “theatrical” performances, but no one came right out with it. Adam try to clears up any mystery by creating a false trail. Talking about a female co-star he says, "I've gotten to kiss those lips, and although it’s not my preference," and he pauses so the audience can chuckle. Once a guy on American Idol lose the tween girls, he is in serious danger. So even once openly homosexual dudes pretend to be straight on the show.

New dad Clay Aiken comes out of closet for his child. The cover of the latest People magazine shows Aiken holding his infant son, Parker Foster Aiken, with the headline: "Yes, I'm Gay." The cover also has the quote: "I cannot raise a child to lie or hide things."

After years of dodging questions, former "American Idol" singer Clay Aiken will acknowledge he is a gay man in an interview with People magazine set to run on its Web site Wednesday, according to media reports.

The magazine has an interview with Aiken and confirmed that he was on the cover but refused to release the article until Wednesday.

The baby's mother is Aiken's friend and record producer Jaymes Foster.

Aiken, who gained fame as the runner-up on "American Idol" in 2003, rarely addressed the frequent rumors about his sexuality. He said two years ago, "I don't really feel like I have anybody to answer to but myself and God and the people I love."

A spokeswoman for People would neither confirm nor deny that Aiken told the magazine he is gay. But the magazine issued a statement saying, "We can confirm that Clay Aiken and his son appear on the next cover of People.

Miley Cyrus has Died Hoax

Last night, some dudes hacked into the Wikipedia entry about Miley Cyrus and said that she died. They took the article and submitted it to Digg, a social networking site. Yahoo! News then picked up on the article and ran with it. Despite false news that Miley Cyrus died in a car crash today, she is very much alive, and can’t wait to get out on the road with her new Mercedes when she turns 16 years-old. There wasn’t much mention despite the hoax, because people care more about Sarah Palin than Miley. Looks like she needs to release some more scantily clad photos on the Internet.

According to the original report, which was picked up by Yahoo News, Wikipedia and Digg, Cyrus was on her way to the filming of the upcoming "Hannah Montana" Series when her vehicle was struck by a large truck and killed. Below is what the Yahoo! News article said about the accident.
