Allison and Scott are currently on trial for attempting to extort $680,000 from John Stamos. Allison and John had a "brief romantic fling" when she was a 17-year-old in high school during a spring break trip to Florida in 2004. Defense lawyer Sarah Henderson made the allegation during opening arguments in the U.S. District Court trial of Allison Coss and Scott Sippola, even though the presiding judge last week ruled that testimony about whether the ER and Full House actor had an intimate relationship with Coss would not be allowed. Opening statements are not testimony and cannot be considered by jurors as evidence but allow attorneys to outline the case they will present.
Stamos, who attended the trial's opening day, declined comment to press but is expected to testify. Stamos had already separated from wife Rebecca Romijn and would finally divorce in 2005. That fact was agreed today by the defense attorney and Assistant U.S. Attorney Maarten Vermaat. Stamos was said to have met Coss and another girl at a club and bought Coss a drink even though he knew they she was underage. Stamos then invited them both to his room where there was allegedly a bag of cocaine and two strippers. Coss and her friends took a photo of Stamos bending over a table of coke.
Stamos and Coss later went to the bed where they made out. They then went to the hot tub where Stamos stripped naked and Coss stripped to her underwear. Stamos offered to perform oral sex on her but Coss said she declined. Stamos broke a bedpost in frustration but apologized. Afterward, they exchanged emails for the next few years "with regularity.' One day Allison Coss, posing as "Jessica T," sent John two e-mails claiming she was pregnant and he was the father. Later, a "Brian L" emailed John claiming he had photos of him doing blow off a stripper. That is when John called the FBI which eventually led to Allison and Scott’s arrest. Stamos contacted the FBI, Vermaat said. During testimony, two agents described a sting operation that ended with Coss and Sippola's arrest at K.I. Sawyer International Airport near Marquette, where an agent posing as a Stamos representative had promised to leave a bag of cash. People report:

Stamos attorney William Sobel later said in a statement that "the allegations made today in the courtroom by the defendant's attorneys during opening statements will not be proven because they are simply untrue."The judge in the case has already ruled that testimony about any romantic liaison will not be admitted, but the defense was permitted to mention it during opening statements. Instead, the trial's focus is on whether Coss and a friend, Scott Sippola, 31, tried to extort $680,000 from Stamos by telling him they had photos showing him with cocaine and strippers.
