American football star and actor OJ Simpson has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for armed robbery, conspiracy to kidnap and assault with a deadly weapon nearly 14 years after he was acquitted of double murder. His voice shaking, O.J. Simpson apologized in court for his role in an armed confrontation over sports memorabilia and insisted he was merely trying to recover property that had been stolen from his family as the family of his murder victim listen. Judge denied Simpson's request for new trial. LOL... The AP reports:

A broken O.J. Simpson has been sentenced to at least 15 years in prison for a Las Vegas hotel armed robbery by a judge who rejected his apology and said, "It was much more than stupidity."
Simpson stood stone-faced Friday when Judge Jackie Glass quickly rattled off his punishment after he pleaded with her that he didn't mean to steal from anybody when he tried to retrieve memorabilia.
He appeared ready to break down in tears as he told that he was "sorry and confused" before going into a rambling and emotional 5-minute declaration.
"I didn't want to steal anything from anyone ... I'm sorry, sorry," he said.
He added: "It's not like I killed anybody. Again."

I personally believe that OJ Simpson should have gone to the electric chair or whatever they use to execute people in California for the crimes he committed in 1994 and I am kinda happy to see him go to jail. The dude is a filthy animal that killed his ex-wife and the mother of his children. I hope nothing but the worse for him! That being said, I will be honest and say this whole thing in Las Vegas is just payback for what happened 14 years ago. the judge said it had nothing to do with his previous crime but that is crazy if she actually believes that. And there therein lies the problem with this trial. Using the courts to get back at a person for something he was acquitted of worries me even if he was wrongly acquitted.

The asshole got more time for robbery than some people get for manslaughter or rape. And the poor stupid fool Clarence Stewart got 15 year sentence just because it would have look unfair if OJ Simpson got 15 years and he got off with less time. Thats just bullshit, it seems like America is becoming a country of feelings instead of a country of laws. I hate OJ and wish the people he murdered got justice 14 years ago however I wished justice was served today not for the sake of OJ but for the justice system. Anyways, hopefully the family of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman can get some peace from this sentence because they deserved that.

Describing Simpson, 61, as arrogant and ignorant, District Judge Jackie Glass said the evidence was overwhelming.

Simpson made an emotional appeal prior to sentencing at the Las Vegas court, saying he was "sorry" and "confused".

His accomplice, Clarence Stewart, was also sentenced to 15 years after the two were convicted on 12 charges.

The charges related to the robbery and holding of two sports memorabilia dealers at the Palace Station hotel in Las Vegas in September 2007.

In 1995, Simpson was acquitted of murdering his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman in what was dubbed "the trial of the century".

Simpson and Stewart had seized the memorabilia dealers in an attempt to reclaim items linked to the former National Football League star's sporting career, which Simpson claimed still belonged to him.

Before sentencing, Judge Glass said: "The potential for harm to occur in that room was tremendous."

"You went to the room, you took guns... you used force, you took property... and in this state that amounts to robbery with a deadly weapon," said the judge.

Prior to sentencing, Simpson pleaded for leniency from the judge with a trembling voice and tears in his eyes.

"I didn't mean to hurt anybody and I didn't mean to steal from anybody," said the former Buffalo Bills player.

"I did not know that I was doing anything illegal," he said. "I thought that I was confronting friends and retrieving my property. So I am sorry. I am sorry for all of it."

Judge Glass dismissed two counts of coercion with use of a deadly weapon.

But she denied defence motions for bail pending appeal, saying both defendants posed a risk of fleeing.

After his acquittal in the 1995 case, Simpson was later found liable for the deaths in a civil case and ordered to pay $33.5m (£19m) to Mr Goldman's family.

Las Vegas Jury Found OJ Simpson Guilty on All Charges

OJ Simpson has been found guilty on 12 charges of armed robbery, conspiracy to kidnap and assault with a deadly weapon by a court in the US city of Las Vegas.

The former US football star and actor was accused of robbing two sports memorabilia dealers a year ago.

The armed robbery charges carry a mandatory jail sentence, and kidnapping carries a possible life term with a five year minimum.

Simpson, 61, who denied the charges, was acquitted of murder in 1995 in what was dubbed "the trial of the century".

Asked by reporters on his way into court for the latest verdict, which was read late on Friday night local time, Simpson said he was prepared for the judgement.

"You gotta be ready," the former running back told journalists.

Inside the court both Simpson and his accomplice, Clarence Steward, were found guilty on all charges by the Las Vegas jury.

Simpson blew out his cheeks and nodded as the verdicts were read out.

He was then led away with his hands cuffed by police.

In his previous trial, Simpson was accused of murdering his former wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1994. The not-guilty verdict shocked many in America.

Mr Simpson was later found liable for the deaths in a civil case and ordered to pay $33.5m to Mr Goldman's family.

The jury began deliberating on Friday whether OJ Simpson and his co-defendant robbed two sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint in a casino hotel room.

The 61-year-old former football star and a golfing buddy, Clarence “CJ'' Stewart, each face five years to life in prison if convicted of kidnapping, or mandatory prison time if convicted of armed robbery. They've pleaded not guilty to 12 charges, including conspiracy, coercion and assault with a deadly weapon.

Deliberations began 13 years to the day after Simpson was acquitted of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in Los Angeles.

The jury was expected to deliberate through the day, and decide Friday afternoon whether to return on Saturday or take the weekend off, court spokesman Michael Sommermeyer said.

The Clark County jury of nine women and three men heard 12 days of testimony, capped by prosecutors' arguments Thursday that the Las Vegas case had its roots in the 1994 slayings.

Prosecutor Chris Owens said Simpson planned, and Stewart helped carry out, a plot to retrieve personal items that Simpson lost after squirreling them away to avoid turning them over to Goldman's family to satisfy part of a $33.5 million civil wrongful death judgment levied in 1997 by a California court.

Owens told the jury to convict Simpson, denouncing him for the ``arrogance'' of his actions.

``The kind of arrogance ... that would make them think they could come in and get away with this kind of crime and that nobody would report it and they thought they could spin it that, 'It's all OK; It was my stuff.'''

Simpson's lawyer, Yale Galanter, told the jury the prosecution didn't prove Simpson was guilty in the criminal case that he said “has taken on a life of its own because of Mr. Simpson's involvement.''

``Every cooperator, every person who had a gun, every person who had an ulterior motive, every person who signed a book deal, every person who got paid money, the police, the district attorney's office, is only interested in one thing: Mr. Simpson,'' Galanter said. ``He has always been the target of this investigation, and nothing else mattered.''

Galanter reminded the jury of a surreptitious recording of police investigators in the hotel room after the incident. ``They're making jokes. They're saying things like, 'We're gonna get him,''' he said.

Since September 15, the jury heard 22 often-colorful witnesses, including seven of the nine people who were in the cramped hotel room. They've listened to numerous replays of secret recordings made before, during and after the alleged robbery.

Neither Simpson nor Stewart testified, and jurors were instructed not to consider that when judging the case. Two former co-defendants who said they brought guns did testify.

Judge Jackie Glass kept a tight rein on the proceedings and rejected several mistrial motions. She read 41 legal instructions to the jurors and six alternates before lawyers began closing arguments.

Galanter told the jury that the incident got out of hand because of former co-defendant Michael McClinton, who admitted displaying a gun during the confrontation.

"For whatever reason, Michael McClinton takes over,'' Galanter said, ``and when McClinton takes over, he starts yelling and screaming and giving people orders and telling people to bag stuff up. And OJ's saying, 'Don't take anything that's not mine.'"

James Woods says O.J. Simpson and Nicole Once Invited Him in on Threesome

Wow, this is wild.

James Woods

Movie star James Woods said that O.J. Simpson and Nicole Brown Simpson once invited him in for a threesome. He also said Nicole also wanted to have sex with him behind O.J.'s back. He said he met O.J. and Nicole in Palm Springs a couple of years before she was murdered.

James says he wasn't surprised when he heard reports O.J. Simpson had allegedly killed his wife Nicole - because she had confided in him at a charity dinner. Simpson had requested the actor’s company at a dinner he was hosting after a golf tournament in Palm Springs, California and Woods found himself sitting next to O.J.'s stunning wife. Upon learning the actor was going through a divorce, Nicole revealed she was unhappy in her marriage - and Woods thought the mystery blonde was chatting him up.

He recalls, "I'd never met her before... and I'm taking the bait... and I think, `Well, she's really unhappy, this is great... I guess I'm being set up and so on.' "And then all of a sudden... she said, `You should try being married to a big, famous black athlete.'" Woods then received an awkward offer to join the Simpsons for a late-night drink that he declined.

He said that after dinner Nicole and O.J. invited him back to their room for a "night cap" and he got the feeling they wanted to do him. He turned them down, but later got a letter from Nicole asking him for sex on the down low.

He remembers, “About four days later…I get at my house a letter from her, 'Dear Jimmy,' with a little heart where the 'I’ is, [saying] 'O.J. is out of town, maybe you would like to get together.' [I thought], this can't be possible." He says, It was this long note about ‘O.J.'s gonna be out of town and maybe you'd like to get together...’ Nicole wrote, ‘I'm thinking, This can't be possible.'

Woods severed ties with O.J. and his wife but then realized he could be called to testify during the Naked Gun star's double murder trial in 1994. He adds, "My assistant comes across the letter and the photograph of us sitting together and she goes, `You could get subpoenaed.'" Woods famously found himself at the O.J. trial when his mother insisted on visiting the Los Angeles courthouse, and the actor was invited to take a seat behind the accused.

The Juice Is Loose Again: O.J. Simpson is Out on Bail

A Las Vegas court granted bail of $125,000 on Wednesday to O.J. Simpson, who faces 11 criminal charges stemming from what police say was an armed robbery of his own sports memorabilia at a Las Vegas hotel.

O.J. Simpson faces charges that could result in well over a 100 years behind bars as he walked out of jail today. Simpson walked out the back door of the downtown Las Vegas jail and got into a car driven by his lawyer. The car was followed by camera crews as helicopters hovered overhead. Under the bail conditions, Simpson, who lives in Florida, will have to surrender his passport but will be allowed to travel within the United States.

The Las Vegas charges stem from what authorities say was the armed theft at gun point last week by Simpson anh his friends of his own sports memorabilia from a pair of collectors who were staying at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino.
