Bahrain Army Open Fire On Protesters

Warning... the video below is very graphic, violent and disturbing!

On Thursday Bahrain's leaders banned public gatherings and sent tanks into the streets, intensifying a crackdown that killed five anti-government protesters, and wounded more than 250. However authorities backed down from the standoff with protesters in a bid to ease tensions. Yesterday tanks and riot police suddenly withdraw from the capital's main square, and thousands have gathered there to celebrate. But before the withdrawal, this was the scene:

After being subjected to a violent crackdown on Thursday and Friday, pro reform protesters flooded back into Manama's Pearl Roundabout when Bahraini security forces withdrew from the area on Saturday afternoon. Here is a report from Euronews:

Fuck, it is total chaos and violence in the Middle East and North Africa. Bahrain's government said on Saturday that it had opened a dialogue with opposition groups demanding reform. The Associated Press report:

Sure as hell is sad to see people meowed down like that while peacefully marching. But I knew... I knew you only care that the season opening Bahrain F1 Grand Prix is not canceled. You bastard! Just kidding... Lets hope Google don't kill this blog again for posting this shocking video but they allow it on Youtube so we should be okay here.

About Jenson's winning the championship today, the Guardian.co.uk report:

Jenson Button has secured his maiden Formula One world championship for Brawn GP in the penultimate race of the season as Red Bull's Mark Webber won the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Button took fifth place as his team-mate and rival Rubens Barrichello finished eighth and Sebastian Vettel - the only other driver capable of winning the crown - finished in fourth position.

Webber, who had been running second in the early stages, took the lead after his first stop and did not relinquish it as the Red Bull proved the quickest car around Interlagos. Barrichello's grip on the race was loosened when he lost places after his first stop, crucially to BMW's Robert Kubica, who finished second. The Brazilian, who had started from pole position, lost third place with ten laps to go as a storming Lewis Hamilton - who started from 18th place after a disaster in the rain-hit qualifying session - benefitted from an early safety car period. Barrichello then suffered further disappointment with a puncture in the dying laps, being forced to pit and rejoin in eighth.

Button had also benefitted from the safety car to make up places early on, showing his determination with a great move to pass Renault's Romain Grosjean after which he also picked off Williams' Kazuki Nakajima. Button pitted for the first time on lap 29, a clean stop bringing him out in tenth with two cars ahead still to pit. A fantastic move on Sebastien Buemi a few laps later, outbraking him into turn one, brought Button seventh place. Barrichello, lying fourth, had all the work to do but his race unravelled and he was unable to keep his title hopes alive.

Vettel had done his best to stay in the hunt be taking a very long first stint and would be satisfied with his fourth place, even though Button's finishing position meant the title was out of his grasp. Given Barrichello's bad luck, it meant the Red Bull driver overtook him for second in the standings with a race to go.

The opening laps of the grand prix were filled with incident as first an off-track fight almost erupted between Jarno Trulli and Adrian Sutil. Replays appeared to show Force India's Sutil forcing Trulli wide onto the grass, causing the Toyota to lose control and slide off into the barriers, tagging Sutil along the way. Sutil also ended up in the gravel trap and had to face a fuming Trulli in a discussion that almost became physical.

A lap later Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen was caught in a flash fire in the pit lane. The Finn had pitted to receive a new nose cone after tagging the back of Red Bull's Mark Webber. Ahead of him, earlier spinner Heikki Kovalainen was leaving the pits but with the fuel hose still attached to his McLaren. Fuel sprayed over the hot Ferrari, which was briefly engulfed in flames, although Raikkonen was unhurt and carried on.

Final points standings:

Jenson Button, 89

Sebastian Vettel, 74

Rubens Barrichello, 72

Jenson Alexander Lyons Button (born January 19, 1980 in Frome, Somerset, England) is a British Formula One World champion from England, currently driving for the Brawn GP team and 2009 Formula One World Champion. He first drove in Formula One in the 2000 season, with the Williams team, switching in 2001 to Benetton, which in 2002 became Renault F1. After two years with the Enstone-based squad, he moved to BAR in 2003. They were subsequently renamed Honda for the 2006 season, during which Button won his first Grand Prix in Hungary, on 6 August 2006, after 113 races. Following the withdrawal of Honda from the sport in December 2008, he was left without a drive for the 2009 season, until Ross Brawn led a management buyout of the team in February 2009, and Button suddenly found himself in a highly competitive, Mercedes-engined car. He went on to win six of the first seven races of the 2009 season, equalling a record achieved by only two other drivers, Michael Schumacher and Jim Clark. Although the current season is still in progress, he has amassed enough points over his rivals to secure the 2009 FIA world drivers championship.

Button began karting at the age of eight, after his father bought him his first kart, and made an extraordinarily successful start. He won all 34 races of the 1991 British Cadet Kart Championship, along with the title. Further successes followed, including three triumphs in the British Open Kart Championship. In 1997, he became the youngest driver ever to win the European Super A Championship, and won the Aryton Senna Memorial Cup as well, precipitating a move into car racing.

Aged 18, Button contested the British Formula Ford Championship with Haywood Racing and won the title, with nine race wins. He also triumphed in the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch, ahead of future Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon. At the end of 1998, he won the annual McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver Award. His prize included a test in a McLaren Formula One car, which he received at the end of the following year.

Button entered Formula Three in 1999, with the Promatecme team. He won three times - at Thruxton, Pembrey and Silverstone - and finished the season as top rookie driver. He was third overall in the championship, behind Marc Hynes and Luciano Burti, and finished fifth and second respectively in the Marlboro Masters and Macau Grand Prix (0.035s behind winner Darren Manning in the latter).

Lewis Hamilton wins 2008 driver's world title after stunning race finish

In the most exciting fashion and the greatest Formula 1 race I have ever seen, Lewis did it. The driver I was rooting for this year did it, he is the world champion. On the last lap my heart was racing faster than the cars. It was truly amazing, Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton is the F1 World Champion. I am speechless, the 23-year-old himself was similarly speechless, saying: "Amazing, I can't get my breath back." The racing gods are impressed!

You are the man Lewis, but your girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger is a camera whore. And probably a gold-digger so be carefully with her. I personally don't trust this bitch, my advice to Lewis is to use condoms no matter how much she says she is on the pill and flush the condoms down the toilet immediately after sex. NEVER IN THE TRASH or you will end up a dad weather you like it or not!

ARGUABLY the most dramatic end to a world title race in Formula One history culminated in Lewis Hamilton becoming the sport's youngest world champion.

Lewis Hamilton has become Formula One's youngest ever champion in the most dramatic fashion after finishing fifth in the season-ending Brazil Grand Prix at Interlagos.

Title rival Felipe Massa of Ferrari cruised to victory at his home grand prix and Hamilton, needing to finish fifth, passed Timo Glock of Toyota Red Bull with just seconds to spare to claim the world title.

A late-race rain shower looked set to rob Hamilton of the title after a stop for wet tires dropped him to sixth, but he managed to overtake the Toyota as they entered the pit straight.

After a burst of rain delayed the start by 10 minutes the Briton had slipped back from fourth on the grid to sixth after pitting to change tyres in the early stages.

But the McLaren driver moved up to the all important fifth place position with a bold overtaking manoeuvre to pass Force India driver Giancarlo Fisichella on lap 18.

And he climbed another place when one of the leading cars came in to refuel. If he takes the title in only his second season Hamilton will become the youngest champion in F1 history.

Massa was staying out of trouble up front where he's been throughout since setting off in pole for this title-decider.

From second, Vettel was the first to make his second stop at the end of lap 27, ultimately dropping the young German down to sixth place.

Behind the leaders, Kovalainen was making inroads, rising from 12th to seventh by lap 28 having passed the Red Bull of Mark Webber, Heidfeld, Trulli and eventually Fisichella.

After 36 laps, just over half race distance, Massa had opened up a 6.5secs advantage over Alonso, with Raikkonen a further 10.4secs down, with Hamilton fourth just four seconds behind the Finn.

From fifth, Glock made his second stop, relegating the German down to 14th, elevating Vettel, Kovalainen, Fisichella and Trulli up to fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth.

Massa will take the F1 crown if he wins and Hamilton finishes sixth or lower, or if he takes second and Hamilton is eighth or lower.

There was drama at the start with David Coulthard cruelly spinning off before the first corner on the veteran Scot's last race before retirement

Hamilton carries a seven-point advantage into the race and will have to erase memories of last season when he blew a similar advantage in the final race to allow Kimi Raikkonen, Massa's team-mate, to take the title by a single point.

Ron Dennis, the McLaren team principal, said he was confident Hamilton will not repeat the mistakes he made on the opening lap at Interlagos 12 months ago.

"We have run every single possible scenario that we could think of," Dennis said. "And also introduced all the problems that we imagined could occur and factored those in.

"Can we damage a nose? Can we stop? Can we change a nose and still come fifth? All those things we factored into every scenario we could think of."

"We increased the intensity of the real-time analysis so we should be able to pick up any variation or tire pressure within two or three seconds so that if he does pick up a puncture and he's a few hundred yards from the pit-lane entrance that we can pick it up fast enough.

"Every single part on the car has been re-analyzed. We looked at the history over the last year of each components reliability, anything that falls close to being of concern.

"I can say whatever the outcome, if our car fails - and we don't want that to happen - that no more effort could have been put in than we put in."
