The Hong Kong celebrity sex scandal involving pornographic photographs of Hong Kong movie star and singer Edison Chen and various female starlets has destroy careers and possible entire lifes. The China News services report this is the region’s biggest sex scandals in recent memory.
The Sohu News reports that more than a dozen female stars are involved, and some of them have admitted to police that the photos are genuine and weren’t taken under duress. Hong Kong police have been searching for the people who posted the photos online. Some media are saying that Hong Kong entertainment companies are behind the flood of pornographic photos, and that they use the photos as ammunition in their battle for market share.

the concert of popular Canto-pop group, Twins, in Hong Kong in April was cancelled following the recent sex photo scandal involving its singer Gillian Chung, said Nanyang Siang Pau.
In some of the photos, Chung was seen in a compromising position with Hong Kong entertainer Edison Chen.
In the past few weeks, hundreds of photos – believed to be of Chen with a string of Hong Kong starlets, including actress Cecilia Cheung and former actress Bobo Chan – had been circulating on the Internet.
The Twins concert in Malaysia on June 27 and 28, however, will go on as scheduled, said a spokesman from organiser Genting City of Entertainment.
“We will inform the public if there are changes,” he said.
No one know what the long-term implications of the photo scandal will be celebrities like Gillian Chung. In the view of some, it could ruin lives (and certainly, at the very least, reputations). So far, Bobo Chan not been found, and her wedding has been called off.
Nicholas Tse and Cecilia Cheung are separating and will divorce as a result of the pictures of Cecilia Cheung and Edison chen which were seemingly taken right before their marriage.
There's no doubt the implications of this scandal are much more serious than others in America because of China's culture. Pre-marital sex is still greatly frowned upon (ironically, Gillian Chung, a poster-girl for abstains from sex before marriage, herself is caught up in the controversy), more so than in the west.
