Oops! She did it again. There's more controversy surrounding Disney's top jail bait Miley Cyrus. And this time, it involves a Miley Cyrus topless picture. According to The New York Times, Miley Cyrus is embarrassed, and apologizing to fans over a topless picture of the 15-year-old Disney star, covered only by a sheet, that was published in Vanity Fair magazine. The photo was taken by Annie Liebovitz for the magazine, and Miley's parents were on hand for the shoot, but now Miley is trying to do "damage control" (or drum up extra publicity), claiming the pictures did not turn out as expected. 15 year old Hannah Montana star, Miley Cyrus, posed topless for Vanity Fair with nothing but a sheet covering her breasts(?). This has reportedly caused outrage with her fans and the public, because no one realized Vanity Fair was a kiddie porn magazine. Coincidentally, Cyrus now thinks it was a bad idea. ABC News reports:
"I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," she said in a statement. "I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."
In a statement, Disney took the opportunity to blame Vanity Fair for whoring out their biggest teen star:
"Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines," a network statement said."
However, Vanity Fair insists that Miley and her parents were well aware of the photos and approved the shoot:
"Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day," the magazine said. "Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley." In a caption released by Vanity Fair with the photo last week, Cyrus expressed her comfort with how the apparently topless picture turned out."I think it's really artsy," she told the magazine at the time. "It wasn't in a skanky way. Annie took, like, a beautiful shot, and I thought that was really cool. That's what she wanted me to do, and you can't say no to Annie."
In the Vanity Fair article, written by Bruce Handy, Miley is quoted saying this about the topless photo:
"Annie took, like, a beautiful shot, and I thought it was really cool. That’s what she wanted me to do, and you can’t say no to Annie. I think it’s really artsy. It wasn’t in a skanky way."However, in her statement about the published photo is Miley had this to say about the Vanity Fair shoot:
"I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be "artistic" and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."
Whatever. Miley Cyrus takes skankier pictures than these herself every day and posts them on the online, so please don't tell us she's embarrassed. Mostly because it's easy to talk 15 year old attention whores into anything. Especially if you have your own car and can buy them cigarettes and booze. They just love cigarettes. Oh Miley... No one believes for a second that you're the littlest bit innocent. And if you weren't comfortable with the shoot, how come you're all smiles in these behind the scenes shots? This entire thing is just crazy, what adult would take such photos. I was not surprise that these racy pictures were taken by a woman because any male photograph taking such barely legal pictures would be putting his career and freedom on the line. I don't know why its okay for any person working for a magazine to take photos of a topless 15 year old girl.
If it was made public that some guy not having the cover of association with a magazine like Vanity Fair took the same photos in the basement of his home of a 15 year old girl with her parents, they all would be in JAIL and rightfully so. I think the people at Vanity Fair could get away with murder with the cover of a photoshoot.
