New York Giants Super Bowl superstar Plaxico Burress is having an awesome weekend. Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the right thigh and spent the night in the hospital, its just another dramatic turn in a tumultuous season in which the star New York Giants receiver has been fined and suspended. Twenty-four hours later and Plaxico Burress is still a dumbass. Yesterday, we learned that he shot himself in the thigh on Friday night at a Manhattan nightclub. Apparently, his gun went off in his pants as Burress tried to retrieve the weapon before it fell completely out of his pant leg. And while that's almost impossible to fathom, billions of people manage to make it through life without ever putting a bullet into their leg, the details of exactly how it happened are, well, stupefying. According to NY Daily News:
Burress, 31, who was sporting flashy jewelry and carrying loads of cash, told club management he needed the gun to protect himself, sources said.
The mercurial Giant was waved inside the crowded Latin-themed club on Lexington Ave. about midnight. He downed several drinks, making already jittery security guards more nervous about his weapon.

As Burress was being led into a VIP area, with a drink in his hand, the gun slipped down his pants leg. He reached for the weapon, but fumbled it and it went off, sources said. The bullet tore through Burress' already injured right thigh, police said.
"[The bullet] went in and out. No bones," Chief Michael Collins, a police spokesman, said.

Burress told his teammate not to call 911 for an ambulance, sources said.
Pierce helped the bloodied receiver out of the club before taking off with the gun and stashing it somewhere in New Jersey, sources said.
Burress was afraid to go to the hospital, but two hours after the shooting, at 2 a.m., his wife, Tiffany, and a friend escorted him to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell. He was treated and released at about 12:45 p.m., sources said.
But a hospital spokeswoman denied that Burress was ever there.
Cops only learned about the incident after Giants employees quietly reached out to the NYPD to report it, sources said.

Of course, discharging a loaded handgun in a club might, I dunno, might get you fucking arrested. Not to mention it is totally illegal just having a handgun in Manhattan without a special permit which no one has because its like impossible to get. So with some quick thinking, Plaxico employed the help of Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce who stashed the gun in New Jersey. Its just like a freaking episode of The Sopranos. So, whether it is the bullet in his leg or the NYPD it seems that the New York Giants’ hero of Superbowl XLII, wide receiver Plaxico Burress, will not be lining up with the offense at Fed Ex Field during today’s meeting with the Washington Redskins. Plaxico Burress has about 35 million reasons to avoid crap like this with his new $35,000,000 five year contract. Click on pictures to enlarge.

    -----------------------------------------------

Plaxico Burress ('plɛksɪko 'bɝɹəs) (born August 12, 1977 in Norfolk, Virginia) is an American football wide receiver for the New York Giants of the National Football League. He was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers eighth overall in the 2000 NFL Draft. He played college football at Michigan State University.

Burress earned a Super Bowl ring with the Giants in Super Bowl XLII.

In Super Bowl XLII, Burress caught the game-winning pass that made the score 17-14 in the Giants favor. He gained some measure of "Super Bowl legend" by predicting a Giants win, and by further saying that the Patriots would be beaten by the score 23-17; '. Also, Burress was suffering from a serious leg injury and had very limited work in pregame practice so he was able to get treatment and play in the Super Bowl. Ironically, Burress' limited work benefited the Giants in the Super Bowl because David Tyree received more repetitions in practice as Burress was recovering, and Tyree went on to make the "Helmet Catch" and a TD reception in the Super Bowl. blogywoodbabes.blogspot.com
