Salma Hayek came out of nowhere and said she was pregnant and engaged to French billionaire, Francois-Henri Pinault. It was a shock, because nobody knew she was even dating anyone. Now, it looks like the love has gone. It's strange how that happens immediately after you give birth to a kid whose dad is worth $14.5 billion. I believe there’s a technical term for this type of situation. What was it again? Oh, right: CHA-CHING! Well, Salma Hayek got what she wanted. USA Today reports:
Mexican-born actress Salma Hayek and French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault have called off their engagement, their representative confirms to USA TODAY. "We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been canceled.."
When asked for comment, Salma Hayek said, "Cha-ching!" Then she pretended to pull the handle on an old-fashioned cash register. Then she did the worm. I hope she is able to find someone soon who will be able to mend her broken heart. Click on pictures to enlarge.
Salma Hayek has called off her engagement to businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, her representative said Friday.
The couple announced their plans to wed in March 2007, and welcomed a daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, several months later.
"We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been cancelled," US magazine quoted Hayek''s rep as saying in a statement to USA Today.
"There will be no further comment," her rep added.
For Hayek, 41, getting married was an entirely different issue, as she told the April issue of Glamour that she didn''t feel the "need" to get married.
"Do I think we are going to get married? Probably. Will it make a difference? I hope not," she said.
"You want to grow old with someone, you want to have a partner and to have children — we have all those things.
"Some people need the commitment. Maybe we''ll just make the party!" she had added.
Valentina is the first child for Hayek, whereas Pinault, 45, already has two children from a previous marriage.Pinault is the chief executive officer of the luxury goods company PPR SA, which owns high-end labels such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Puma.
